Each year hundreds of Mississippi Recreation Students, Professionals and Organizations utilize the Mississippi Recreation & Parks Association and its resources to promote quality recreation activities and facility improvements across the state.

GREAT REASONS TO JOIN MRPA
Workshops & Training Student Scholarships MRPA is a leader in the development of future park and recreation professionals. MRPA’s membership provides scholarships each year to assist students who are members who are enrolled in leisure service and delivery educational programs.Convention Scholarships MRPA’s provides a working convention scholarship for up to two undergradate students each year. Recipients of the scholarship receive a tuition package to attend MRPA's annual convention.Professional Certification MRPA recognizes qualified professionals through a certification plan approved by the National Recreation and Park Association. Levels of certification are based on experience, education and accomplishments. MRPA also offers continuing education units (CEU’s) to professionals to assist them in maintaining their certification.Monthly Newsletter Forum Update is the primary communication tool of the membership. As a member you’ll get a steady stream of ideas and information that will help you manage your park and recreation programs, facilities and departments in a professional and efficient manner.Networking MRPA offers a chance to meet a variety of professionals who are experiencing similar challenges and interests. The association provides members the opportunity to work together toward common goals, to share ideas and to exchange information.Professional Consultation MRPA members provide professional advise and consultation for new and developing park & recreation departments. Awards & Recognition MRPA recognizes individuals and organizations throughout the state who make outstanding contributions to the profession. Members are recognized statewide, regionally and nationally for these outstanding contributions.Advocate for the Profession Members of MRPA regularly advocate for Mississippi's park and recreation profession. MRPA has been represented at the Mississippi Municipal Association's convention for the past five years. In 1999, MRPA presented a program to the MMA membership outlined the benefits of parks & recreation.Related Programs

Many volunteers help our association accomplish our goal of providing improved programs and facilities to those we serve. MRPA thanks our Board of Directors and others who support our efforts.
